"You're not Lev's mommy anymore," explains Liana.

Liana is desperately trying to understand the world, in a way very similar to the way Jaal did at this age. Lev was happy with things being mysterious and magical, and Jaal (like Liana) always wanted to understand why and how.

Yesterday Liana told me, "You're just my mommy," in a very happy, possessive tone.  And I said that I was Jaal and Lev's mommy also. She said, "You're not Lev's mommy anymore because he died. You're not Jaal's mommy anymore because he is in Seattle."
I tried to explain that I still was, even though Lev is gone and Jaal is far away. I told her how Grandma Carol is still my mommy even though I am grown up. She came to terms with my still being Jaal's mommy, and keeps thinking I am Melinda's mommy, but the concept of the other brother that she never knew is hard for her.

She must have kept thinking about it. In the morning, she woke up and told Tony, "Mommy's not Lev's mommy anymore." By now she may have learned not to say that I'm not his mommy, but I don't think she believes it.

In a way, she is right. It's just painful.
