Guitar dog, oh how you mock me

Guitar dog
You remind me of happier days
Sitting, smiling with your guitar
Not a care in the world
You were brought home when life was good
Jaal and I bought you with some plants for the back patio
With Lev we planted them
We loved your smiling face
Until the world turned dark
And then we hated you
Your mocking smile
Still happy on the patio oblivious to our pain
Always happy and content
Many times we wanted to smash you
But you were a symbol of our past
Happy people
Enjoying music and sunshine
Last summer we packed you up carefully and stored you away for five months
Only to discover that our neglect led to your broken arm
Quickly fixed with glue
You smile again on our deck
Not a care in the world
Pondering the golden days
When life was simple
When our hearts were full of love and music and sunshine
How you mock us now

... Perhaps you will bring hope with the summer sun
